The Last Tour of the Anita Baldwin Estate

On DVD

Take a video walk around Anoakia, the historic estate

of Anita Baldwin (1876-1939)

the daughter of Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin.

The twenty acre property on the corner of Foothill and Baldwin in Arcadia got its name from a contraction of its location in "Santa Anita Oaks" a northern section of Rancho Santa Anita.

The Last Tour looks at the stable house where Anita Baldwin trained her race horses, the gymnasium "temple" where her children played, and it explores the concrete mansion where she entertained Hollywood stars and commissioned Maynard Dixon's 1913 Indian mural.

In later years, the once formal grounds and buildings housed a series of private schools.  The Last Tour with its original soundtrack is a lasting documentary of how Anoakia looked in 1999.

Video by Alex Taylor, edited by Julia Taylor, and original music with heart by David Howarth; enjoy the details captured without narration, of this historic landmark before it was torn down.
